Course developer
Lucinda has always considered herself as a “fixer”. Finding solutions for nutrition-related problems for better outcome and improving quality of life is her mission. She has a holistic way of thinking and believes that paediatric conditions should all be treated in a team of healthcare professionals, where nutrition forms the foundation of each treatment plan.
Lucinda is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), Association for Dietetics in South Africa (ADSA) and the Southern African Academy of Childhood Disability (SA-ChilD) which is a member of the International Alliance of Academies of Childhood Disability (IAACD). She feels privileged to be part of PICNNIC (Promoting International Collaboration for Nutrition in Neurological Impairment in Children) and the first member from Africa to join this team of international experts.
Lucinda has been a registered dietitian for 15 years. She completed her Master’s degree in dietetics, particularly in the field of paediatric cerebral palsy. Her career path has moved from working in the government sector to the private sector, as well as gaining experience from the pharmaceutical industry. She has been involved in special needs nutrition and it has been one of the most fulfilling purposes in her life. Whether it is a parent, facility or healthcare professional seeking advice, she will go beyond great efforts to assist with the best possible solutions to ultimately reach their goals. Her practice, Neuro-Nutrition has become more focussed on presenting workshops and courses for both public and private sectors on various topics related to paediatric nutrition. She also serves as an expert medico-legal witness in medical malpractice litigation. Her heart lies in the fields of both neuro-disabilities and critical care for the paediatric population.
