This training will be beneficial to any HCP (Health-care-professional) who is involved in immunisations. 

We begin with an introduction and then 4 modules to work through. We follow a step-by-step approach, giving you all the tools you need to successfully catch-up a child who is unvaccinated, or who has defaulted on one or more vaccines. 
We help you to become familiar with the available vaccination schedules in South Africa (private and public), and also all the various vaccines that we have registered in South Africa. Once you have identified the vaccines that are needed, we help you to know how to space these vaccines and to draw up a catch-up schedule for the child.

Each module consists of a section for reading, a PowerPoint presentation, and a knowledge check. To ensure that you have mastered each section, a pass rate of at least 80% is required before you can move on to the next module. The last module gives some practical examples of catch-up scenarios. Included in the training material, are downloadable vaccine schedules, a list of all the available vaccines in SA and an immunisation catch up schedule for reference purposes.

Remember that successful catch-up programmes rely on the competency of healthcare workers. Every visit of a child to a
clinic or healthcare facility should be seen as an opportunity to review the child’s vaccination card and provide catch-up vaccines as appropriate. Our wish is that this course will empower you to ensure that no child is disadvantaged by leaving them vulnerable to vaccine preventable disease.
