Course overview
In a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, ethical decision‑making is no longer optional—it is essential to protecting patients, safeguarding professional credibility, and strengthening the integrity of South Africa’s health system. Health professionals face complex situations daily, where legal duties, ethical expectations, and professional standards intersect. Without a clear grounding in these guidelines, even well‑intentioned practitioners can make errors that carry serious professional and legal consequences. This course equips you with the confidence to navigate these challenges with clarity and integrity.
South African Ethics Guidelines offers a focused, practical, and engaging exploration of the ethical frameworks that guide professional behaviour. Over approximately three hours, you will unpack the ethical duties prescribed by the HPCSA, explore real‑world implications of breaching these guidelines, and evaluate how ethical, legal, and professional principles work together in everyday clinical practice.
Your learning culminates in a short quiz, and achieving 70% earns you 5 HPCSA‑accredited CPD points, recognising your commitment to ethical, patient‑centred care. Whether you are a general practitioner or another healthcare professional, this course empowers you to elevate your practice, and uphold the highest ethical standards expected in South Africa’s health professions.
