Webinar Overview

This 60-minute webinar explores the emerging role of soul carers and death doulas, and how they complement formal palliative care. Through real cases and practical insights, the panel highlights how these non-clinical practitioners support patients and families emotionally, spiritually and socially at the end of life.

The session unpacks their unique contributions, from facilitating conversations about dying to supporting anticipatory grief, while also exploring boundaries, collaboration and ethical considerations. About the academic institution

PALPRAC is a national network of healthcare professionals dedicated to improving quality of life for people living with serious illness. Founded in 2018, we bring together doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to deliver compassionate, person-centred palliative care across Southern Africa.
Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, we equip multidisciplinary teams to relieve suffering, support dignity, and honour what matters most to patients and their families. We support healthcare professionals to be change agents in their own settings, and we engage with the wider health system to drive the changes needed to ensure everyone has access to quality palliative care. All healthcare professionals are welcome to join, with membership options to suit every role and level of experience.
