Course overview
HIV remains a significant concern within the healthcare environment, with the World Health Organization estimating that 70 million individuals have been infected since the epidemic began. In South Africa alone, 7.1 million people are currently living with HIV. The ultimate goal is to eliminate new HIV infections, and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) plays a crucial role in achieving this objective alongside other prevention strategies. This 15 hour course is designed to provide healthcare professionals with comprehensive training on the appropriate rollout of PrEP. By the end of this course, you will be equipped to: (i) Identify potential and eligible PrEP users, (ii) Safely initiate them on PrEP, or (iii) Link them to other treatment and prevention programmes. Each module ends in a quiz to assess learning.
