Mental health is a critical component of holistic patient care, requiring nurses to recognise, assess and manage mental health conditions effectively. This course provides essential knowledge on mental health assessment, interventions and disorders, including substance use, child behavioural issues and the impact of HIV/AIDS. Participants will explore South Africa’s legal and ethical framework, the roles of mental healthcare professionals and available resources. By the end of the course, nurses will be equipped to provide appropriate mental health support in their context. This 10-hour course is delivered via 7 modules, each ending with a quiz to assess learning.
