Course overview
Did you know that over 7.5% of South Africa's population lives with a permanent disability? Unfortunately, many of these individuals are not receiving the compensation they deserve due to a lack of proper training among medical professionals responsible for their assessments. This oversight not only leads to significant financial strain for the affected individuals but also poses reputational risks to the healthcare providers involved. This indispensable training equips Medical Doctors, Medical and Hospital Case Managers, Occupational and Physical Therapists, Disability Evaluators and Nurses with the essential skills to accurately assess medical impairment for compensation purposes, including for the Road Accident Fund, Workers’ Compensation, Rand Mutual Assurance, and various insurance companies. By the end of this course, you will have a thorough understanding of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) and its role in impairment evaluations. You will learn how to determine Diagnosis-Based Impairments and make necessary adjustments based on Functional History, Physical Examinations, and Clinical Studies. Additionally, you will master scoring Functional Inventories, including the QuickDASH, Lower Limb Outcome Scale, and Pain Disability Questionnaire. You will need approximately 30 hours to complete this course. To qualify for the certificate of completion, participants should work through all modules and successfully complete the assessment process. Certificates accepted by the RAF (Road Accident Fund)and are authorized by the AMA (American Medical Association).
