Course overview
Participants will examine the practical application of three core Lifestyle Medicine pillars - nutrition, physical activity and sleep- and their role as foundational interventions in menopause care. Emphasis is placed on translating evidence into practice and building confidence in applying these strategies in clinical settings. The course is delivered over three 20-minute lectures (1 hour total). Assessment consists of 15 multiple-choice questions completed at the end of the course to consolidate learning and support CPD requirements.

Course developer
Dr Lydia Altini is a General Practitioner with certifications in Lifestyle Medicine (International Board of Lifestyle Medicine), Lifestyle Change Coaching (National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching) and Mindfulness-based Interventions (University of Stellenbosch). Dr Altini’s early career included HIV prevention research as Deputy Director of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Unit, School of Public Health and Family Medicine, University of Cape Town. She is now committed to combating the rising burden of non-communicable diseases by empowering individuals, communities, and healthcare systems to adopt lifestyle-based solutions that improve long-term health outcomes.
Dr Altini
co-founded the South African Lifestyle Medicine Association (SALMA) in 2020 and
is a current Board Member. She contributed to the development of SALMA’s Accreditation
in Lifestyle Medicine course and remains dedicated to educating and equipping health
professionals with practical strategies for integrating lifestyle medicine into
routine clinical practice.
