Course overview

Tuberculosis (TB) continues to pose a significant public health challenge in South Africa, ranking among the countries with the highest TB burden globally. Despite a focused National TB Control Programme, the country faces a triple burden of TB, HIV-TB co-infection and drug-resistant TB strains. This underscores the vital role of healthcare practitioners in integrating TB diagnosis, care and management into their clinical expertise.

This comprehensive 24-hour course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to address TB effectively. It covers global and South African TB strategies, transmission and pathogenesis, diagnostic methods, treatment approaches to prevent drug resistance and the management of TB in children. Special attention is given to the intersection of TB and HIV, ensuring practitioners can deliver comprehensive care to co-infected patients.

By the end of this accredited course, participants will have the expertise to contribute meaningfully to TB elimination efforts and improve patient outcomes. Successful completion earns 24 CPD points with the HPCSA.
