Course overview
This course is designed to equip medical professionals with essential skills in Level 1 Obstetric Scanning. Early identification of foetal anomalies through ultrasound is critical in managing patient care, and this course will provide you with the knowledge and confidence to perform basic obstetric and gynaecological scans. Participants will learn to assess foetal growth, recognise basic structural anomalies, and gain an introduction to gynaecological ultrasound techniques.
By the end of the course, participants will understand the capabilities and limitations of ultrasound in medical imaging and be able to recognise normal anatomy and pathology in obstetric scans. They will be equipped to choose the appropriate ultrasound equipment, optimise image quality through correct settings and patient positioning, and orientate images accurately. Additionally, participants will master ultrasound protocols for all three trimesters of pregnancy and apply these guidelines to improve clinical management.
This course is ideal for medical doctors, interns, and sonographers. The blended learning format includes an online theoretical component, followed by a 1-day practical session.
